Great video of a class player who obviously needed a bit of time to adapt

Trouble on here is he'll do that for 90 minutes then a couple of bad passes and he's shit

I think Madrid is the biggest worry. I think Pagey also did Roma, I'm not sure he was on the treble

It is funny how every media outlet focuses on Man Utd crashing out!

As I have said can’t wait to win this competition and then see Liverpool in it next year.
Suddenly it will become a huge competition.

NJ, it was me. I've got two still running, the other is City, Roma & Florentina @ 535/1 (with us, 363/1)

I’m seeking therapy / counselling to understand the Soucek selection such is my obsession about it over the last 15 months. Even after 5 pints of Black Rat cider the prefrontal cortex in my tiny bonce still reasons that it’s bizarre, illogical.

I also would not discount Downes. He’s simply not had the minutes / game time. A player needs a run of games to adjust and establish themselves. Especially a younger one making a step up from the championship but like most of the players brought in he has been relegated to a big part, understudy for Moyes favourites despite those favourites largely failing for 14 months in the league.

Currently he just does the simple things but anyone with eyes can see he’s the quickest of our central midfielders ( incl Rice), intercepts well, strong and passes very accurately at speed and when faced with the pressing most teams now employ. Think how long it took Paqueta to adjust to the pace and strength of the Premiership. Downes will need some time but even as he plays now he’s a couple of levels above Soucek in every aspect except aerial ability at corners / set pieces and sliding to stick a leg out and tackle now and then.

Other players like Cornet and Emerson, Aguerd need game time but I can see the latter 2 improving the more they play. I guess because we are in a relegation scrap Moyes sticks with his old guard but if he’d been more progressive early on in the season or knew different ways of playing they may gave got those minutes earlier and we would not have descended so far down the table ?

Do think we need more central midfield strength and depth. That will have to be addressed when Rice goes. Gallagher and Phillips? 2 for 1 and Soucek needs to be sold asap but that’s just my opinion.

According to the BBC report Moyes was expecting Benrahma to take the penalty but Paqueta took it off Bennie as he wasnted to atone for his mistake that cost us their goal

Thanks to a poster on here, apologies l forgot who it was, suggested a European treble of City, Roma and us. From £5 stake already over £80 cash out, if it happens £1890!!

Good montage of Paqueta from last night.

I was also surprised Pacqueta stepped up to take the pen. I must admit I was worried, as I thought, he’s gonna do one of those stupid stuttering run ups and miss. Luckily, only the first part of that was true.

But who is our regular pen taker? Benny scored a great pen at the weekend, used to be Bowen, or Lanzini when he was playing.

I’m sure he just wanted to make up for his error, but if did feel like he made that decision. Luckily it didn’t backfire.

Hand ball.

As good as Antonio's run and strike was for his second we'd be pissed off if our keeper didn't keep it out.

I saw Bowen score a fifth and my phone rang and I left the room for 2 mins. Came back in and the goal chalked off but I never found out why - what was the deal there?

Totally. If anyone in a big club shirt scores Rice’s goal, or lesserly Antonio’s second, it’s a wonder goal, goal of the season contender, and all the media outlets are wanking themselves dry. I suppose you have to factor in level of opposition a bit, but still…

All about Man U today, although that is fucking funny.

Manners
Agreed.
I love it when Antonio plays like that. How many 33yr olds could score that 4th goal ?

If that was Arsenal last night scoring those 2 quality goals the media would be creaming itself

I'm going to be controversial here and say that I though we played pretty well in the first half, too. Without the horrific goal conceded and the clear-cut wrong penalty decision, we'd have have been two up at half time. At least we went for their throats from the off.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Gent - Official Match Thread - Preview
Yeah Onana would have strengthened us there, maybe when Moyes told him he wouldn't be starting he watched a couple of our games and thought fuck me he wants me on the bench while he plays.. I'll sign for fat Frank.

Though if he had signed we wouldn't have Paqueta and still be short in midfield... This club eh.

I was confident of getting past this lot, but AZ I'm not so sure. Yes, on paper we are better than them, but it's going to be tough.

The Soucek situation is beyond the pale now, it's like it's one big wind up. Looking at that area of the squad though we are seriously light there, and will be further so when Rice goes. I suspect had we got Onana he would have played instead of Soucek.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Gent - Official Match Thread - Preview
Great second half performance, but how bad were we first 37 minutes . Particularly Antonio, Benrahma and Soucek. We came alive after we scored. That 20 minutes after half time was brilliant though.

If we play three halves in a row as badly as we did in this tie against AZ I doubt we'll be close enough to rally in the last half.

Oh and Soucek 90 minutes again, I just don't get it.

We'll need to be at it from the off.
